When Nicole received a call from her stepmother, Susan, telling her she had a special birthday gift, she was curious but also wary. They had never been close, so the idea of Susan offering her a gift was a bit puzzling. Next, Nicole tackled the numerous stains that marred the couch. Armed with a mixture of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap, she scrubbed the fabric until the stains began to fade. As she worked, Nicole began to see potential in the couch she once considered a lost cause.
The real challenge came with the rips and tears. But Nicole wasn’t deterred. With Derek’s encouragement, she made a trip to the local thrift store to find fabric and other supplies. She never expected anyone to actually buy it, but within a day, she received an offer. To her shock, a woman named Maggie from an affluent area wanted to purchase it.
