Paul Hogan, the 84-year-old actor best known for his iconic role in Crocodile Dundee, has opened up about the physical toll his health has taken. In a recent interview on A Current Affair, Hogan revealed that his ongoing battle with illness has left him so weak that he can no longer perform simple tasks, such as opening jars. His vulnerability during the interview highlighted both the challenges of aging and the remarkable strength he’s shown throughout his life.

Health Struggles and the Impact of Retroperitoneal Fibrosis

Hogan’s physical decline has been linked to a condition known as retroperitoneal fibrosis. This benign tumor is pressing on his kidney and wrapping around his abdominal aorta, affecting his overall health. He disclosed that he recently had a pacemaker installed to help address some of the issues caused by his condition. While he’s made progress in his recovery, Hogan shared how his body has been dramatically affected: “I’ve lost all of my body fat, my muscles have shrunk, and my strength has returned after it had left me weak.”

He went on to explain how his son, Chance, has become an essential support system in his daily life. “I have Chance open jars for me,” Hogan said, reflecting on how his son has stepped in to help with everyday tasks as his strength continues to decline.

    Reflecting on a Blessed Life

Despite his current health struggles, Hogan expressed a deep sense of gratitude for the life he’s lived. “So many blessings have come into my life. I shouldn’t complain because I’ve had many good things happen to me despite doing nothing to deserve them,” he said. Hogan acknowledged that, even in the face of his illness, he has experienced a life full of luck and good fortune. He revealed his desire to return to his hometown of Sydney, Australia, to be closer to his family and find peace in his remaining years.

    Family and Personal Life

Paul Hogan’s personal life has seen its share of ups and downs, particularly in his relationships. He first married Noelene Edwards in 1958, and the couple had five children together. After a divorce in 1981, they reconciled and remarried in 1982, but their relationship ended once again in 1986. Their second divorce was notably contentious, making headlines as one of Australia’s most challenging celebrity splits.

In 1990, Hogan married Linda Kozlowski, his co-star from Crocodile Dundee. Together, they had a son, Chance, who has since become a significant part of Hogan’s life. Hogan’s comments about his health struggles reveal the importance of family support, particularly his son, as he navigates this difficult chapter of his life.

    A Future in Australia

Hogan’s desire to return to Australia reflects his longing for family and a sense of home as he faces the physical challenges of aging. While he remains grateful for the life he has led, he also yearns for the familiar comforts of his roots. His reflections serve as a reminder of the value of family and the deep connections that define our lives, especially in our later years.
