To assist her in achieving a debt-free retirement, he initiated a fundraiser titled “Let’s Help Nola Retire,” encouraging the community to come together for her cause.

Despite the positive momentum, Devan encountered unexpected resistance. Store management requested he remove both the video and the fundraiser, claiming it was negatively affecting their business, even threatening to involve the police. However, Devan remained steadfast, stating, “I told them to do what they had to do because I’m determined to get this money to Nola one way or another.”

On November 5, Devan made a surprise visit to Nola, where they shared a heartfelt conversation. He then deposited $110,000 from the fundraiser into her account. Upon learning that she still needed $60,000 to fully pay off her mortgage, Devan chose to keep the GoFundMe page active. The total eventually surpassed an astounding $186,000. Nola expressed her gratitude, saying, “I feel good, and I’m thankful for Devan for what he’s done. Although she expressed some sadness about not seeing her regular customers anymore, Nola plans to continue working through the holiday season, with a goal to retire at the beginning of 2023.
