Judge Judy Sheindlin, a prominent figure in television known for her commanding presence and sharp wit, has faced numerous legal battles throughout her career. However, nothing could have prepared her for the frightening health scare she experienced during a live performance in 2011. Now, as the executive producer of her new show, Judy Justice, she reflects on the ordeal that momentarily halted her usually unstoppable momentum.
A Frightening Incident on Stage
During an interview with Good Morning America, Judy recounted the terrifying experience, revealing that she believed she may have suffered a transient ischemic attack (TIA), commonly known as a mini-stroke. The incident occurred unexpectedly while she was performing in front of her audience. She expressed immense gratitude to the quick-thinking audience members who noticed something was wrong and called for paramedics immediately. “If they had asked me, I probably would have discouraged them,” Judy admitted, highlighting how vital their intervention was at the time.
Reports from the New York Post detailed the alarming moment when the then 79-year-old began “asking questions in slow motion,” prompting producers to take immediate action and call for medical assistance. Despite concerns from her physicians, Judy assured everyone that she is in good health and views the incident as an isolated event, with no lingering effects.
A Return to Health and Continued Success
Fortunately, Judy has not experienced any further attacks since that day and continues to enjoy excellent health. Currently, she remains deeply involved in her new show, Judy Justice, where she has taken on the role of executive producer. When questioned about the possibility of retirement, Judy’s response was clear and confident: “I’m not tired.” Unlike athletes or those engaged in other hobbies, she finds her work deeply fulfilling and has no plans to slow down or explore other interests such as chess, checkers, or mahjong.
A Love That Stands the Test of Time
As she continues her successful television career, Judy also cherishes her personal life, particularly her enduring marriage to Jerry Sheindlin. The couple, approaching their 45th anniversary, has weathered their share of challenges, including a brief separation early in their relationship. However, their love and companionship have only grown stronger, and they have enjoyed a happy life together ever since.
Off-screen, Judy and Jerry share a wonderful home life, filled with shared experiences and the deep bond they have built over the years. Despite the high-profile nature of her career, Judy’s unwavering dedication to both her work and her family shines through, proving that her passion for television and her commitment to her loved ones remain as strong as ever.
